SONA 2009: This Made Me Smile

I have been fascinated by the Presidents' courage and superb intelligence. I never admired her like this until I had her SONA last July 27th. And I never imagined those conceited and deluded critics of her that way before. Revealing their selfish goals and political ambitions. I must say that she has been a good president. If not as the bestest. She stood modest and noble. I can't find any other words to describe and appreciate much how much she done in strengthening the country's economy. Bravo for her and long-live Philippines.

Here are her quotable quotes. You can use this as a reference.

"I had not done any of the things that scared my worst critics. “They are frightened by their own shadows.”

" A few days ago Moody’s upgraded our credit rating, citing the resilience of our
economy. The state of our nation is a strong economy
Good news for our people, bad news for our critics"

" I did not become President to be popular. To work, to lead, to protect and
preserve our country, our people, that is why I became President"

" Some say that after this SONA, it will be all politics. Sorry, but there’s more
work"

" I supported the tough version of the House of the Cheaper Medicine
Law, I supported it over the weak version of my critics.
To those who want to be President, this advice: If you really want something
done, just do it. Do it hard, do it well. Don’t pussyfoot. Don't pander. And
don’t say bad words in public."

" At the end of this speech I shall step down from this stage, but not from the
Presidency. My term does not end until next year. Until
then, I will fight for the ordinary Filipino. The nation comes first. There is
much to do as head of state to the very last day"

" As I said earlier, so
far we have been spared its worst effects but we cannot be complacent. We
only know that we have generated more resources on which to draw, and
thereby created options we could take. Thank God we did not let our critics
stop us."

" As the campaign unfolds and the candidates take to the airwaves, I ask them
to talk more about how they will build up the nation rather than tear down
their opponents. (applause) Give the electorate real choices and not just sweet
talk. (applause) Meanwhile, I will keep a steady hand on the tiller, keeping the
ship of state away from the shallows some prefer, and steering it straight on
the course we set in 2001"

" However much a President wishes it, a national problem cannot be knocked
out with a single punch. A President must work with the problem as much as
against it, turn it into a solution if she can"

" There isn’t a day I do not work at my job or a waking moment when I do not
think through a work-related problem. Even my critics cannot begrudge the
long hours I put in. Our people deserve a government that works just as hard
as they do"

" Everything right can be undone by even a single wrong. Every step forward
must be taken in the teeth of political pressures and economic constraints
that could push you two steps back if you flinch and falter. I have not
flinched, I have not faltered. Hindi ako umaatras sa hamon. And I
have never done any of the things that scared my worst critics so much. They
are frightened by their own shadows"

" In the face of attempted coups, I issued emergency proclamations just in case.
But I was able to resolve these military crises with the ordinary powers of my
office. My critics call it dictatorship. I call it determination"

" But I never declared martial law, (applause) though they are running scared
as if I did. In truth, what they are really afraid of is their weakness in the face
of this self-imagined threat"

" I say to them: Do not tell us what we all know, that democracy can be
threatened. Tell us what you will do when it is attacked"

" I know what to do: As I have shown, I will defend democracy with arms when
it is threatened by violence; with firmness when it is weakened by division;
with law and order when it is subverted by anarchy; and always, I will try to
sustain it by wise policies of economic progress, so that a democracy means
not just an empty liberty but a full life for all"

" I have never expressed the desire to extend myself beyond my term.
Many of those who accuse me of it tried to cling like nails to their posts"

" I am accused of misgovernance. Many of those who accuse me of it left me the
problem of their misgovernance to solve. And we did it"

" I am falsely accused, without proof, of using my position for personal profit.
Many who accuse me of it have lifestyles and spending habits that make them
walking proofs of that crime"

" We can read their frustrations. They had the chance to serve this good
country and they blew it by serving themselves"

" Those who live in glass houses should cast no stones. Those who should be in
jail should not threaten it, especially if they have been there"

" Today the Philippines is weathering well the storm that is raging around the
world. It is growing stronger with the challenge. When the weather clears, as it
will, there is no telling how much farther forward it can go. Believe in it. I
believe"

  3. CONTENTED is the word. There are some things that needs cooperation. Intact rather. What will be the Philippines someday, WE are the answer.

  5. That's your prerogative. Your opinion is hereby acknowledged.

I have fathom her talks and somehow I can attest to it. I have been letting my mind opened and I must say she really made a better Philippines. Her SONA gave me numerous grinning. Grin that somehow means that the Philippines still have hopes. Hope to be in harmony, prosperity, security, and equality sometimes.:)

    nice =)

  7. i hope there would still be a place for Gloria in the heart of the Filipinos. whatever the SONA contains, she should not include those "patama" thing. i could not see the connection of those words to our economy. haha. stupidity. the war then begins... good luck to Mar Roxas and Estrada. LOL. :D

  9. I still have high hopes for PGMA.
Sadyang ang atong bayan ay mahilig mang-underdog
    kung baga parang pelikula/teleserye...

i love her unpopular government. kasi ang mga Filipino gusto popular president... pero may nagawa ba? WALA.

    OVERALL... I STILL LOVE PGMA.
sadyang may mga corrupt around her... that makes her name madumi

  10. I agree with the whole 'patama' thing. Although, I must say, ang taray pa rin ni GMA and medyo natuwa rin naman ako dun ng konti.Hahaha

The war has begun. Hahaha. PArang palengke na naman to. Tsk tsk

Siguro so-so. But I'm not putting the blame on Gloria, okay.

The thing is, kapag daw within one week e may work ka, employed pa rin yun. I forgot the thing with unemployed, medyo hindi ko na naiintindihan yung discussion sa TV.

But that's the thing, baka kaya nga naman nasasabing bumaba yung statistics ng unemployment rate (?) ay dahil doon. Hahaha.

One thing I liked about her is that, isa siyang mean bitch. Haha. And this is in the sense na sinasagot niya ang kung sinumang mga kritiko niya. At mataray siya. At matalino. Walang sinasanto. Ganito yung mga gusto ko.

  13. that's the real problem there my friend we can't really love the one we hate....i'm not saying i love the president but i think she really deserve to be given a chance..pero mahirap kasing bigyan ng chance and isang tao pag di mo mabago ang pagtingin mu sa kanya...even if she will do the best thing for this country still people can't appreciate her because they will still think that she is corrupt....we should start changing ourselves and for that maybe, just maybe we can see the other side of her....the different side of her...

  14. Grabe i Really love this part! haha.

Mag Mura in Public diba? TSSS.

(I'm not A pro Gloria huh?)

  17. Sometimes silence is not enough. There's more in confrontation and answering the blames, buts, and "you shall step down". Sometimes throwing a bread in return for the stone is illogical. And sometimes is the SONA day.:)

  18. True. Unpopular. And I quote what I learned from John F. Kennedy. "When the government is silent and almost seem to come in order, there's not much going on." The late president of America gave his piece of advice through experience.:)

  20. I guess I just have to answer you. In my own experience, whenever I have a project, It does not contribute an instant success or solution. That's in a barangay level. Normally, whenever I begged the politicians to fund my project it takes for at least two months. Then the project will come after my administration. The next elected leader will be the one to utilize my labor.

    Just like in national scenario.

We heir the billion value of of debt. That was so unfair for I have not been born yet when Marcos pawned the Philippines and its Filipinos and now we are still paying for it endlessly. It was really unfair. But acts were done and what was left for her is to solve it. Slowly and timelessly. According to my Prof. in Politics, and for so I can attest, What we are now: third world, second world, or first world country, fully indebted, or financially free, is THE RESULT OF THE SOLUTION EMPOWERED BY THE PAST ADMINISTRATION 20 YEARS AGO.

So I will stand by to what she have said. "The Philippines is out of the third world country 15 years from now."

And what's most painful? She will not be recognize for what prosper she brought to this land. Its the one who will be become the President by that time. And he/she shall inherit the merits, praises, and agrees of her/his fellow. Whoever will be that one, he/she shall credit it to her (GMA).

:-) With high hopes ~ Carlo

  22. True. She is a liar just like everyone else. She somehow tell the truth just as also as everyone else.:) Well said. Thanks for dropping by.:-)

  23. She had just proven her ability. It was just a matter of time now to be understood. Solutions don't come overnight, just like as diploma. Efforts and abilities are not enough. There should be time. For we loses the vital when we rush things.

Rice fields cannot show the golden brown bits of life if not four months.

  24. Yep. I'm not saying that I didn't agree with you on this one. I'm all for confrontations especially if it meant addressing the issue directly. What I don't agree is including it in the SONA. However, its her prerogative, and it's just my opinion. Baka iniisip na lang niya na, once and for all, answer everything sa isang bagsakan na lang, or to end her SONA with a bang. :)

  25. Teka. Ano bang sinabi ko? Haha.

I get it. With the whole looong and tedious process here in the Philippines. Believe me, I know how it works. My sister's an SK Kagawad, and my father has this election case that's been taking sooo long, and it has been eating up all our savings, but this is another story.

What I'm saying is, I get it. You like her, I don't. Haha.

If you believe to what she have said, then so be it. I'm also hoping that it will happen, in time. And if it does, let's just hope that whoever will get the merit will credit not only GMA, but all the other people who's behind the success as well.

  27. Sorry if I got it wrong. Okay. It is nice to think that we both cling to what we believe. Everything was right in the point of reasoning. For in the end of the day, we want the better Philippines. :-) Thank you for sharing your side.

It is better than keeping a view but never throw a word about a topic. And that's what kind of people I don't want to meet.:-) ***parinig sa mga nakikibasa lang.:-)

    O walang comment.
but it's as good as saying na apathetic na mostly mga tao ngayon e. Nakakatakot.

  29. Oo nga. walang pakialam not unless nasasagasaan yung mga bagay na pinakikinabangan nila. Doon lamang sila magsasabi "We want change."

    ReplyDelete
It will never be too late to express your words.:-)
